Monthly Archives: January 2008

Is it already the end of the month? It seems as if New Years was only last week or so. I guess school is helping the days fly by even though it is five days a week now and making me sleepy. Some trade-off.

Yesterday was no exception. Computer Science was a bore do to the fact that I had to learn binary for the fifth time. Apparently simple math is too hard to grasp for some people. After class I switched out books and met Sable in the math lab. I read the stuff from the lecture I slept through on Monday and helped her with the practice problems (which I refuse to do because I get no credit for them). I was out cold during the second half of the class yesterday to continue the streak. The teacher is so damn boring. Not to mention math is boring as well. A lose-lose if you ask me.

Hopefully today’s English class will zoom by.

This morning was a slow start to my day. I was slow to get out of bed and do the reading for today’s class. I got out of the house with enough time to get down to the campus without running to class. During English some of the other students read off their short essays to the teacher. I pretty much zoned myself out for a bit. After that we discussed a short story by George Orwell. We managed to get half of it done before the class ended, although we have to do some of it for homework. Lame. The teacher also admitted what I have been suspecting. He is in fact Canadian. I fucking knew it. I headed home to an empty house.

The first thing I did when I got in was check some sites and my e-mail. I ate some lunch while watching TV, mainly part of an X-Files episode. Played a little Battlefield 2 and then I started to feel tired and bored so I fell on the bed and stayed there until my mom came home. A little later on and I got an IM from Tammi and she was talking about her troubles with organizing her music collection. This inspired me to do the same. I switched around some folders and organized albums under the artist’s main folder. This should help my new media player see my music easier. After sorting my music I loaded up Songbird which I have been playing with (it is still in beta). Songbird is from the same people who created Firefox and Thunderbird so I know it will kick more ass as time goes on. A few minutes and all my music was set. All it needs for me to be even happier with it is the Last.fm plugin. You won’t be seeing any updates on it until one comes out, although you still might see updates from my iPod when I plug it in to iTunes (I need to remake my playlists due to my organizing efforts, stupid Apple).

As for now I am just relaxing for the night talking with Tammi and dreading math tomorrow. I’m sure it will suck like always.

I woke up and played some Battlefield 1942 after trying to stay awake to watch this thing on the History Channel about oil but I was too damn sleepy. I headed off to school for my computer science class. I swear, the people in the class are fucking retarded and shouldn’t be allowed to take the class. “What is the chip?” “How do I copy this file?” “How do I print?” FOR FUCK SAKES, GET OUT OF THE CLASS! I seriously hope the higher classes have less dumb fucks. During the break I went to the math lab and helped out Sable. Then we headed to class where I slept through another lecture. The teacher is like a fucking drone. Talking in monotone on and on and on. Fuck me. Once school was out I headed home and played some more ’42, then I jacked my brother’s Battlefield 2 and installed it.

Yep, shit gonna be shot real good.

Today was spend playing Mount&Blade, seeing RAMBO, and reinstalling Battlefield 1942. Yep. I killed and saw people get killed. Damn good day in my eyes.

Tomorrow is the second week of school this semester. Here’s hoping for an easy day, although math may put me to sleep again.

I am keeping my guard up tonight, this morning, whatever. It is still raining and the news has been talking about creeks in other towns spilling over so I am going to stay up for a few more hours (the rain should be letting off soon) to watch over the street and respond at first sight of anything.

The real point of this post was to explain a change I did for links. Instead of having the small list widget on the sidebar I have decided to make a page for all my links. This way it will be easier to organize and find things. I’ll be adding more over time but I added the basic ones to start with.

That’s about it. Now I need to find something to do.

For whatever reason my mom is worried about the creek going critical again. She heard on the news last night that we should keep an eye on it because of the next storm. So she wants to get sandbags tonight to be safe. For one, sandbags don’t do shit unless you surround the house with them. Secondly, I just got back from checking the creek and it is only about a foot high. She better not jinx it again.

Yesterday was the first day of the new semester. I finally got a decent night of sleep and woke up the next morning and watched Life After People. It was pretty interesting. Around 8:45am I got my hot chocolate and headed out the door. The rain was pounding during my drive down to the campus. Once I arrived I got out and began searching for my new English class. I found it and found a nice seat in the back. The other students poured in one-by-one and I made sure to see if there was anyone I knew. Unlucky for me, there isn’t one person I know. There are two I will have to keep my eye on though. As for the class itself, the teacher seems okay. We are going to be learning some easy stuff aside from having to do an absurd amount of essays. Oh, and poetry. Meh. I also believe that the teacher might be Canadian or something. It sounded like the accent was trying to pop out during the end of class. We’ll have to see about that. The drive home (only class of the day) was pretty shitty. Rain pouring mixed with bad visibility for the lose.

Today sleep was okay. I did wake up before my alarm though which kind of pissed me off. Whatever. I stayed in bed for some time while checking some sites. This time the ride down was fine and my first class was Computer Science. Luckily for me I know one of the guys in there so I got a seat near him. The teacher explained what we would be doing. The first few weeks are total bullshit in my eyes. Basic computer knowledge (aka: this is how you openĀ  a folder, this is how you copy a file, etc). For fuck’s sakes. This is an introduction to programming class and they are starting it like this!? People shouldn’t be in the class if they don’t know how to use a computer. It’s retarded. After my initial reaction the rest was fine. The programming stuff looks fun. The only other gripe is having a lab. I have to be in there for the same amount of time as the math lab. Ugh. 32 total bullshit hours as I call them. During my break I hung out with a few people and found out one of them was in my math class. We headed over when it was time and I found myself amazed that my math class wasn’t in the math building. Instead it is in a portable across the campus. Lame. The room is pretty fucking trashy and it stinks. The teacher seems ok but I dozed off as usual during her lecture. I hate math. Oh and apparently the problems in the book she gives us are for practice and don’t need to be done, at all, but we still have worksheets for homework. What am I going to use the solutions manual for? Damn it.

Tomorrow is English again. We’ll see how that goes.

My sleeping has been shitty the last few days but last night was the worst by far. I couldn’t crash when I attempted to go to sleep at midnight. Instead I tested something with my camera which burned an hour (visit my DeviantArt page to see the results). Pretty much every hour after that I kept waking up. I eventually said fuck it and got out of bed around 7am. I hope I’m not like this tonight/tomorrow or school is going to own my soul.

As for school my grades finally were uploaded. Career planning got an A, math had a B, and economics, which I was worried about, got a C. The English class was given full credit. So I passed all my classes and got the full amount of units that I took last semester. My GPA is currently a 3.0. Now all I need to do is maintain that and I should be good.

The last few days have been a bit odd. It kind of fits I guess since my vacation is coming to an end. Since the 360 is broken and shipped off I have mainly been on the PC doing all kinds of things.

Friday I woke up and wasted as much time as possible so Cloverfield would come faster. At about 10:15am I headed out to the theater to meet up with Andrew. We were going to the 11am showing (first of the day) to beat the crowds, mainly high school kids who all had finals which meant they would be getting our around 12 and 1pm. When I got there there were only a few cars in the parking lot. I waited for Andrew to show up and then we went in and got seats in the back row. While we were waiting we talked about Call of Duty 4. Once the previews started the first one reminded me of Hellboy. I turned to Andrew and told him that the second one was coming out later this year. I turned back to the screen and then saw Hellboy on the screen and was like “motherfucker.” It was the Hellboy 2 trailer. During the second trailer, for the movie 21, I chomped down on a gummy worm and chipped a tiny piece of my front right tooth. Nothing major but it still pissed me off. I plan to have the dentist check it out when I go the next time (whenever that is). Moving back to the movie, it was awesome. Plain and simple on of the coolest and creative movies I have seen. From start to finish it kept me engaged. Andrew seemed to get freaked at some parts with his “Holy shit” and “What the fuck” moments. I just laughed in my head. After the movie I headed home and dicked around on the computer. UPS dropped off the coffin for the Xbox 360 so I packed it up and dropped it off at the UPS store were the truck came just as I was leaving. I went home and then watched Stargate Atlantis.

I woke up Saturday morning around the same time as the day before. This time I was taking my brother to see Cloverfield. We headed over again, beating the crowds. Same trailers, same seats. My brother was a little less dramatic as Andrew but it was close. During the movie he told me that I can die in a fire and that he plans to get the DVD. I told him that we’ll see about it. After the movie I got home to an empty house. The parents were out and about and a little later my brother headed off to a friends house. I proceeded to do the usual internet things when I got a message from a Shacker to play Team Fortress 2. I never played it online before so I was a bit hesitant. I got the server info and jumped in. I chose the Pyro first to give it a shot. Turns out I suck with that class so I went Soldier. I got some good kills and the class seems to work with me. I got better as the day progressed and I made sure to tell Tammi that if I get obsessed with it she has to either beat me senseless or kill me. I do not want to get sucked in a game with school around the corner. After a few hours of that I IMed for the rest of the night.

This morning I fired up Team Fortress 2 and played a few rounds. Once I was done with that I watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Around 3:30pm I headed downstairs to watch the NFC Championship game. I was rooting for the Packers but the stupid Giants kicker saved his career in overtime. Fucker. After the game I reinstalled Oblivion but left out the mods this time (at least until I find a good, stable one so I don’t have to do my multi-disk reinstall being as I don’t have the one DVD GOTY pack). Now I’m just IMing and Shacking.

Tomorrow is my last day of vacation, sadly. I will be preparing for school (mainly English since it will be the only class I go to on Tuesday). Got to pack the car with my books, prepare binders, and get the parking pass in the glove box. I’ll probably also be playing Oblivion and Team Fortress 2. Other than that I don’t know. Got to return to the mindset of school so I don’t fall asleep in class like last semester. Like that will work.

Cloverfield is awesome. Big monster, things exploding, people dying, tanks shooting, it’s what all movies need.
