TV stuff.

I have two full days of photo lab behind me. The first day wasn’t so bad. Pretty slow day actually. Took orders and managed to get them done ahead of schedule (aside from two that came in late and I would later hear shit for them). The one thing that had me on edge that night was the fact that I was in charge of doing photo inventory and it wasn’t the greatest thing to have to do. It got worse when I forgot the menu to go to on the little scanner gun to access it. In the end it took about twenty minutes to figure out and then fifteen to complete the inventory. After that the night was finished.

On day two of photo the day started off well. I didn’t have many orders and I maintained good times. This would change after lunch. One of the customers came back and complained about his picture CD. It turns out that on the CD his pictures were upside down. I told him the easiest way to fix this is to copy them to his PC and flip them. He responded by saying that he shouldn’t have to and that we made the mistake and in turn fix it. I also told him that it was the way the film was developed and run through the machine. He again said that we should be accountable for “mistakes” like this. I walked over to the assistant manager working that night and told him the details. They told me to get the CD and leave it overnight for the main photo technician to work on, so I got the CD and told the douchebag that I’d leave it for her to fix. Later on I was working on some film orders when the machine suddenly started spitting it out and telling me the film was too big even though it was the normal 35mm size. I was baffled. To try and work around I attempted to manually scan the film (something we usually do often when things screw up). I put one of the film strips in and it seemed to scan fine. On the second roll the machine seemed to work but then came back out and the machine continued to say scanning. I tried to see if I could cancel it as it locked up the machine. No luck. The machine was literally locked up. I tried all I could but couldn’t get it back to normal. I again talked to the manager that night and told him. He checked it and agreed that something wasn’t right. Again I left a note for the main tech. At that point I was freaked out that I might have screwed everything up and that I would be held responsible if it broke. The only good part to this story is that it was after closing so no other customers where dropping orders off. Since I have been off the last two days I don’t know the status of the machine but I will find out today. The main tech is also working so I expect to hear something about it. She doesn’t like me much so I know it will be on the negative side. Just dandy.

As for the last two days off I haven’t done much. Just sit around watching TV or playing games. I got a new book which seems like it will be fun to read. It’s called Seagalogy – A Story of the Ass-Kicking Films of Steven Seagal. Although before I read it I need to finish up World War Z. I also have Battle Royale but I think after WWZ and Seagalogy I will start it over since it has been a while since I have read it. Another thing I have done is download the trial for Lord of the Rings Online. I was at Best Buy the other day and looked at the MMO section. I haven’t paid for a MMO since back in the days of Earth & Beyond. The only other MMO I really played was Guild Wars but I am burned out on it. LOTRO seems interesting so I’ll give it a shot. The other two I was looking at were EVE Online but it seems to complicated and the last was Age of Conan which seems cool but I wish there was a trial so I could try it without jumping in fully and then possibly not liking it.

As for today, I work. My parents and brother are driving down to SoCal to visit my step or half brother or whatever he is. He is in the country for a little bit it seems with his Korean girlfriend (he works for the Army at the DMZ or something). My dad’s ex-wife asked if we wanted to see him but since I have to work it doesn’t apply to me. She tried to set it for tomorrow but I work until Monday so it wouldn’t work anyway. I guess she really wanted me to see him or something. Oh well. So the three of them are headed down while I work. Fun 4th.

Today has been pretty slow. I woke up at around 9am and watched TV for a bit. I also played a bit of Condemned but other than that I haven’t done much. Tomorrow I have work which I will (hopefully) be able to pick up my next paycheck. Saturday is also a work day which means I work two of the busiest days of the week. Hopefully I don’t end up on register. I like anything but working on the register. I’ll get Sunday off but then go back in on Monday. Hopefully everything goes smooth. All I know is that July needs to come on over so I can get Civilization Revolutions and spend my days conquering the world. Sounds like a good plan.

It has happened. I was in shock. What the fuck?

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA SEASON 4 “TIES THAT BIND” SPOILER

I was finally active for once this weekend. Yesterday, not so much. All I did was watch TV and shoot people in Call of Duty 4 on the new maps and finally got the .50 cal. So fucking awesome. I love the sound it makes. I also somehow managed to pick up Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath. The epic units are pretty cool. The AI is still an asshole though.

As for today, I woke up and played some Kane’s Wrath and then did a test drive of my shiny new .50 cal in Call of Duty 4. I killed eight people the first time I used it. I am in love with it. At around 11am or so I headed out to start washing my car and my dad’s. I originally agreed to only do two but somehow I got suckered into doing three with annoyed me. I got it done after an hour or two. Once that was over I played a little more C&C3 and later on I downloaded Shadowbane to play with the Shackers. Not sure what to make of it just yet but I guess time will tell. At least it is free to play.

Well the Xbox is headed out again. The DVD drive crapped out so it won’t read anything. I called up Microsoft and explained that is was my third box and a recent replacement so they are shipping the coffin to me. The guy told me that it is covered and it will be shipped back faster than the horrid wait last time. Hopefully that remains true. I can only hope that number four will be the good one. No Xbox over spring break I guess. It’s going to suck hard.

On the other hand I got the Battlestar Galactica season three DVDs today so that should keep me somewhat busy. Exodus Part II is pure fucking awesome. “That scene” still makes the blood rush through me. So fucking awesome. I also reinstalled The Sims 2 sadly, so I am hoping it helps tide me over, although I still need to get the latest expansion. Might have to check that out this weekend.

Now I have to just cross my fingers and hope the rest of this month doesn’t suck.

I can’t believe it has been two years since I switched over to WordPress. Doesn’t seem like that long ago. Times have changed quite a bit since this time last year. Many changes to myself and the people around me, including some new additions.

Since this time last year I have graduated from high school and ventured off to college. A big change in my everyday life. Although with this change came more responsibilities and the biggest change, loss of old friends. There are a bunch of people I do not see anymore due to going to college or moving in general. It was pretty depressing once you get to thinking about it. You spend much of your time with them in school all those years only to have them go away. College brought a few new ones along the way, although not as strong as some of the high school ones. I have also met new people through other ways. Namely Tammi, Carter, and Ashlee. Even that crazy Canadian. All good pals with them. Last year I also had to deal with the death of my grandfather but as time went on I adjusted to the change, as hard as it was. Days, weeks, months, it all came and went. Now it is 2008. It’s pretty crazy.

Considering I’ve written the epic end of the year post just three months ago my memory juices are a bit low so I won’t be picking my top ten posts of the last year. Instead you get to see pretty stats and some search results that make me feel like the FBI will pound on my door in the near future.

The string of dreams that have given me the big ol’ “WTF” feeling in the morning have continued the last few days. These new dreams have been increasing in number every night and have become more insane in terms of content. I really can’t put it together to make sense. I won’t even bother describing some of them because they are just out there. It is killing my sleep schedule and causing me to wake up every hour or so. I keep trying to stay awake during classes and even while driving. If it continues into the weekend I am going to see about getting some meds or something. Anything to stop this cycle. I can’t handle it anymore.

As for school, in math yesterday we had a test. I probably did horrible. All I ask for is a C at best. I really hate the class and teacher. Although over the last week or so I have gotten to know a few people a bit better in the class so we often make jokes and comment about each other. As for today we had a debate in English. The first debate was the pros and cons of gun control. I found myself in the group who were tasked with the cons. Since the group was me and two girls I had to hold it up pretty much on my own. I defended and countered arguments until the debate was over. The teacher declared both groups equal and we moved on to the next debate. In this debate, about the pros and cons of patriotism, I was a spectator. Both groups fought hard but in the end seemed equal. The teacher asked the rest of us if there was anything else they could have used. I spoke up and mentioned something which seemed to catch the teacher’s attention. Bonus points for me.

Now I am just waiting for the old folks to get the fuck off the TV so I can play some Mass Effect.

The satellite dish is giving me trouble and I have a computer science test tomorrow. Who stole my fun?

Yesterday I went out with my parents to various car shops looking for find out who is the cheapest when it comes to getting some new tires. Back when I got my oil change (about a month ago) they told us that my front tires were dangerously low but my parents gave me the “whatever” look and decided to let me drive for a month before giving a shit. So we checked out a handful of places and decided on Les Schwab. We dropped the car off and went to Best Buy. At Best Buy I picked up Burnout Paradise and then walked over to Borders to waste time. After about two hours or so they called us to pick up the car. When we did they gave us a free box of various beef products which was pretty cool. I drove the car home and popped in Burnout.

The new Burnout is very different from the old ones. I’m still trying to get used to the “pick your own route” deal and making sure I turn on the right street going 150+MPH. Not the easiest thing to do. After about an hour or so of playing I hopped on Lego Star Wars to play with Tammi in Episode 1. The connection was off and on at first and then during the second to last level we encountered a pretty mean glitch that wouldn’t let us beat it so we had to start over. Once done with that level we got to the last of Episode 1. Here we ran into something worse. With the added lag and stuff it was hard to use our Force powers on Darth Maul during the battle. This led to a little frustration but we managed to make it through. Tammi and myself plan to continue our adventure later today.

As for today, I woke up and watched last night’s Stargate Atlantis which was really good and then loaded up Burnout. I unlocked some new cars and got a new license which made me happy. Right now I am downloading Service Pack 1 for Vista on my laptop. Hopefully it will improve performance and reduce some nagging load times. Don’t need any new problems. Other than that I expect an average day.

This afternoon I headed out to get a part for my car. It apparently prevents bad crap from entering the air. Whatever. After I got back I prepared to watch the Super Bowl. It was a good game. I am glad the Giants beat the fuck out of Brady and his posse. Good times.
